It's the season for spooks, so let's watch a teenage Kurt Cobain and his friends get gory in this clip from 1984.

When you do the math, you figure out that Cobain was 17 when this footage was filmed by himself, future Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic, and future Melvins drummer Dale Crover. And the flick has everything you'd expect from a bunch of stoner, metalhead teens running around Aberdeen, Washington in the mid-1980s.

There's satanic worship, drug use, knife and gun violence, and plenty of fake blood. Oh, and a trigger warning: there's a lot of that fake blood when Kurt slits his own neck and wrists on camera before stabbing himself repeatedly in the stomach. Which is downright creepy when you think about it.

Happy Halloween!
