OK, so they're not literal spiders. But members of Def Leppard, Scorpions, and Iron Maiden all have arachnids named after them now.
The rockers have Brazilian biologist Christina Rheims to thank. Her love for heavy metal inspired her in the naming and classifying process for four newly discovered species of spider. Say hello to Extraordinarius rickalleni, Extraordinarius klausmeinei, Extraordinarius bruceickinsoni, and Extraordinarius andrematosi, named after André Matos, the late vocalist for Brazilian metal band Angra.
