A temple in India did their annual “Bagwal” stone-pelting festival where two teams of men throw rocks at each other.  Some have shields, but most don’t.

They do it to appease a goddess who wants them to “shed as much blood as possible” . . . and they accomplished it.  About 120 of the rock-throwers were injured at this year’s event.

'Bagwal' stone pelting festival is held every year at the temple of goddess Barahi Devi on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The goddess Barahi temple is located in Devidhura. It is a unique tradition to celebrate Raksha Bandhan in which devotees pelt stone at each other as part of a ritual named "Bagwal".Devotees flock to in large numbers to witness the festival.
