The Rolling Stones played two shows in Chicago on June 21 and 25 to kick off their rescheduled “No Filter” North American tour. Between shows one and two, Illinois became the 11th state to leagalize recreational marijuana, which Mick Jagger couldn’t help but mention during the Stones’ second show.
The video below shows Jagger recognizing newly elected Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Governor JB Pritzker, who signed the marijuana legislation into law the day of the concert.
“I’d like to welcome Governor Pritzker, who today just legalized cannabis in Illinois,” said Jagger to the crowd. “So you’re all going to light up legally next January.” Jagger then quipped, “Some of you may have jumped the gun.”
The Stones’ next tour stop is June 29 in Ontario, Canada.
