OK, a bit of a stretch on the headline, I’ll admit. Really wanted to work in a vampire reference. Probably gonna work in a few more.

If you’ve been sleeping in a coffin for the last half-decade, Hollywood Vampires are a rock supergroup made up of Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, and…Johnny Depp. Yeah, I know. I figured Depp’s rock pedigree began and ended with basing his Captain Jack Sparrow character on Keith Richards. But Perry sets me (and any other doubters) straight in a new interview with Consequence Of Sound:

“If people know anything about Johnny, he did go to California with his band to try and make it, and he just kind of fell into the acting thing, and discovered he had this incredible talent and really used it. But he’s a musician from the word “go.” And you know, walking through his place, he’s got a studio in the living room and guitars hanging on the walls.”

So Depp certainly isn’t toothless when it comes to rock. You could even say, for a Vampire, he doesn’t suck.

OK, no more puns. Click here for the full COS chat with Perry.
