Woodstock 50's cancellation has dominated headlines, but John Fogerty is the first artist booked for the festival to comment on the controversy surrounding the event.

Speaking to Rolling StoneFogerty said, "I wouldn’t want to speculate. I’m just a guy who plays guitar and is ready to show up. It’s not my job to know about the selection of artists or permits. But it’s a shame."

Many have been puzzled by the fact that organizers seemed to not secured the necessary permits in a timely fashion to put on the festival, and Fogerty can be counted among those masses.

"That just blew my mind," said Fogerty about the lack of permits. "You’d think it would be the first thing you’d do and not the last thing. You got the sense there was some shakiness to this whole thing. But the first Woodstock happened more by people wishing for it to happen than any effort of great organization.”

Fogerty said that “as far as I know" he's been paid-in-full for Woodstock 50, however, he did say if the festival does get canceled, he'll donate his fee to a military veteran organization.

However, if the festival does happen, fans in attendance can expect Fogerty to recreate Creedence Clearwater Revival's 11-song set from the original Woodstock.
