One of most iconic managers and commentators has gone to the great squared circle in the sky.
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan died today (September 17) at the age of 73. A cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but Heenan was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2002 and had reconstructive jaw surgery in 2007.
Heenan managed a stable of wrestlers known as "The Heenan Family" throughout his four-decade-long career in the AWA, GCW and the then WWF that included the likes of Blackjack Mulligan, Nick Bockwinkel, Stan Hansen, Andre the Giant, Ric Flair, Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, The Brain Busters, and Harley Race...TO JUST NAME A HANDFUL!
Heenan also made massive contributions to the commentary table, notably alongside Gorilla Monsoon, on a number of WWE and WCW programs.
Considering this, it's no surprise that the sports entertainment world came out in force on social media to pay respect to "The Brain."
